BRANDON ELLEN RT53: When not devoting his time satisfying his customers for the last 6 years at Model, Brandon runs an EBay store selling items for him and for other local Lansing businesses. His favorite pastimes are watching “almost all IMAX movies, TLC and ESPN,” as well as playing sports, including basketball, football, golf, baseball, NASCAR, boxing, fishing, etc. Brandon earned an honor’s diploma from St. Charles High School, near Saginaw, MI and continues to maintain an honors GPA at Delta College in Computer Science and Business Administration. His greatest wish is for more donations to cancer research. “Being able to take care of my grandmother when she was ill- I remember her doing the same for me when I was younger…that would be my proudest moment.”

CARLA BAUER RT 64: “I’ve been in the uniform rental business for over 7 years and I really enjoy it. I’m a people person and I get to meet new people every single day.” After graduating from New Prairie High School in 2002, Carla has worked her way up the ladder and is proudest of when she was able to buy her first house at a young age. “My greatest wish is for the economy to get better and for more opportunity in the working world.” In her spare time, Carla aims to spend time with friends and family and working out. Her favorite vacation has been “Myrtle Beach with my family…Great beaches and lots of shopping!”

DAN BRADLEY RT 18: Dan started to work for Model while he was still at East Kentwood High School and has been with Model for over 8 years and “has been happy here ever since!” Dan spends his free time playing basketball, fantasy sports, playing games with his children, and watching sports, especially University of Michigan football and the Detroit Lions. Dan is proudest of “getting married to my beautiful wife, and the birth of my son. I wish my children grow up to become great and successful people.” Dan earned a vacation through Model’s Achiever’s Club, and considers it one of his favorite ones; “My wife and I visited Cancun and the Dominican Republic.” Other than his family and hobbies, “delivering great products and services, and pleasing customers is what makes me happy and drives me to succeed.”

DENNY GORT RT 6: “I like the independence I have by working at Model. I enjoy seeing a variety of people on my route. If my customers have a problem, I return to help them and solve the problem.” During high school, Denny spent his summers working in production for Model. After graduating he was ultimately promoted to Route Sales and “has been enjoying servicing customers since 1990.” Denny is proud to work along side with his dad, Roger, Model’s General Manager for 27 years, as well as his sister, Pam, who has been a Model Service District Manager since 2002. However, Denny’s proudest moment is “the birth of my son and daughter and I wish that my children continue growing up to be independent.” When he’s not playing softball, listening to music, watching Monday Night Football, or rooting for the lions, Denny “really enjoys doing impersonations of my bosses.”

DON FRISKEY RT 5: Before joining Model in 2000, Don worked at Bil-Mar Foods for 18 years but wanted to fulfill his desire to work get more interactive with customers. “I like helping people, talking to them, making them happy. I make special deliveries and keep my customers properly stocked so they don’t run out of anything and are getting their full money’s worth. I’ve gone all the way back to Muskegon from Grand Rapids to get uniforms for a customer who forgot to bring in his dirties. I am proud when I see my customers satisfied.” His greatest wish is for world peace, as well as being able to move up in his job and build his route. Don feels most rewarded when he goes home and sees his daughters. He also loves spending time out west, recalling “when I was younger seeing incredible sites like the Grand Canyon and Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, and Mt. Rushmore.”

JAKE SCHNEPP RT 30: Jake has been dedicated to servicing his customers since 2002. His favorite thing about working at Model is being able to talk to his customers and meeting new people daily. Prior to Model, Jake worked at Kamins Auto Parts, delivering products. When he’s not contemplating ways to get his greatest wish, a custom made occ chopper, Jake spends his time riding his own motorcycle, and watching Monday Night Raw. Jake continues to be proud of being able to pay for his nephew to play baseball and basketball.

JIM LARSON RT 12: “I give all my customers excellent service. I really like the variety of route work and the day-to-day contact with my customers. I am easy-going and get along with almost anyone.” Before “finding this great opportunity at Model” Jim attended GRCC, Western Michigan University and The University of Michigan after graduating from Creston High School in 1968. Even today, Jim loves watching and going to the football games in Ann Arbor and other UofM athletics. His hobbies and interests include NASCAR, bowling, softball, volleyball, reading John Grisham and James Mitchner books or any book or movie about space exploration and adventure. Jim enjoys adventures of his own, including a wandering road trip through nine states with his wife. “I am so grateful we travel so well together.” Jim desires that his children live a happy, healthy, successful like. “My children make me most proud.”

LEE RIGNEY RT 7: “I started with Model in 1984. I wanted to work for a local family company. After 25 years of servicing Model customers I have so many close personal relationships. I enjoy servicing my friends each and every day and meeting new people. My customers appreciate it when I make special trips back to bring extra items when they’ve had an unusually big usage and run out of products.” Growing up without a lot of “extras,” Lee has worked hard and “I’m proud of what I have accomplished in my life for me and my family.” His favorite vacation was a week long trip to Cancun. “I had one of the best times of my life…and it didn’t cost me a dime! I earned it! Thanks Model!” Lee believes we need to protect American’s income and stop sending them overseas. People also need to put aside their differences and learn to live with one another. Not only does Lee operate a TV camera for local sports channels, he goes go-kart racing, ice skating and cross country skiing. Anytime in life, Lee believes “everybody needs a good laugh.”

MIKE BETTS RT 28: “I started working at Model in 2006. Working for a local family company has been, and continues to be a wonderful experience.” After graduating from Charlotte High School in 1989 Mike studied Law Enforcement at Kellogg Community College. He then worked in the land development business before joining Model. When he’s not working Mike continues to be an avid outdoorsman and goes fishing in bass tournaments competing against some of the very best anglers! He also loved being able to take his oldest daughter to Disney World. “Watching her enjoy everything was a wonderful experience.” He is most proud of “the birth of my children and hope to see my children grow up in a world that they can be proud of.” Mike also likes to sit back and watch Scrubs, M.A.S.H. and The Band of Brothers series and considers Full Metal Jacket and Heat to be his favorite movies.

RAY CRAIG RT 61: ”Sharing personal experiences with my customers, like my hobbies, interests, and vacations, helps me better understand and build confidence between my customers and myself. Building confidence builds business.” Ray has been at Model for over four years but has been in the uniform rental industry for almost 30 years. Over time, Ray has continued to gain new-found knowledge. After graduating from Penn High School in Mishawka, Indiana, Ray owes the rest of his education to “life experiences and seasoned people.” His biggest accomplishment is “seeing my kids born.” Now he enjoys fishing with his boys, driving his 1949 Ford to car shows, gardening and traveling to places he’s never been to before, especially when he gets to spend time with his family. “Every vacation moves us through history, nature and new experiences. We become closer as a family and we have packing and travel arrangements down to a science!”

SCOTT MASCHKE RT 40: After graduating from Walsh College, Scott spent some time working at Proctor & Gamble and at Lindt Chocolate before coming to Model in 2009. So far, his favorite aspect of the job has been meeting “great people” and his enjoyment of being on the road. In his spare time, Scott likes to golf, hunt, fish, and play softball. When he’s not being an avid outdoorsman, Scott enjoys watching Survivor, Law & Order, and Will Ferrell movies. Golfing at the beach with his friends and family would be his vacation of choice. Scott’s most fulfilling moment has been watching his 2 daughters “grow into wonderful young women” while his utmost desire is to be able to watch his grandchildren grow, although “I wont have any for a long time I hope!”

STEVE BRADLEY RT 4: “I like working at Model because of the people. I meet new customers all the time and enjoy getting to know a lot about them. Plus that helps me know how to best keep them satisfied. Customers tell me that my extra efforts really deliver extra value to our service. Also I like the hours. I work hard every day, but I’m home at night and on weekends to be with my small children.” Steve spent several years working as a hi-lo driver before coming to Model and prefers being out with customers. “I really feel like I am running my own business when I am servicing customers. I even deliver products after work if a customer really needs something right away.” Steve earned a Caribbean cruise from Model and “had great fun and really had a chance to relax.” Other than being proud of his hard work at Model, Steve is most proud of the birth of his two children” While he wishes for peace on earth and an early wealthy retirement, Steve spends his free time watching football on TV and is a huge Lions fan. “My favorite part of high school was being on the football team” and continues to enjoy playing football and basketball.

TONY HINTON RT 2: “I love being outside and interacting with the public. The best part of my job is being my own boss for most of the day! I also have a talent that allows me to get along with almost everyone. It’s a talent that I develop every day in my job. One way I give “above and beyond” service is by going back to my customer another day of the week if they need something special.” Prior to joining Model in 1998, Tony worked in the production department at Uptown Cleaners while in school. As a 1990 graduate from GR Central High School, Tony went on to study criminal justice at GRCC and played intramural basketball. Even today, Tony continues his passion of playing basketball, golf and working out. Other than sleep, which he considered “GREAT,” Monday Night Football is a great chance for him to “escape from reality.” When Tony is back in reality he has two wishes: “my wish for the world is eventual peace. My wish for myself is to give my children the best dad…The birth of my children—they are what make me most proud.”
